9 Tips to Younger Looking Skin

Down To The Basics

You basically want to look like you are in your twenties always, right? That might be a bit of a stretch depending on your age, but you do have the potential to look your age or younger. As we kick off 2019, trying to get those new years resolutions active is a challenge for many of us, and I personally find myself thinking February 1st might be an easier start date as that is around the time I feel recovered from the holidays and all the craziness. I bring up the New Year for one main reason and that is because many of us each year re-commit to self-care through diet, exercise, relationships, etc., but how many of us commit to good skin care? I personally have more skin care products in my closet than I do shoes, but that is because I am a skin care nerd! Today I just want to share some of my knowledge and experience with you to help you make some great decisions for you skin this year!

  1. If you smoke, please quit for a lot of reasons, but mainly because you are destroying the youth and vitality of your skin! If you smoke, you need products full of antioxidants.
  2. Drink lots of water, pore size cannot be changed but you can diminish the look of them by staying hydrated and grabbing products with Hyaluronic, it traps 1000 times its weight in water molecules and pushes it in. In dry areas you might need to start with a moisturizing serum.
  3. Keep it simple if just starting out with 3 steps: Cleanse, Serum, Night Cream. In the morning: Cleanse, Serum, SPF.
  4. Masks and Eye Creams are great to add on to your simple steps once you have mastered a good habit. Eye creams take longer to see the effects so give it 3 to 6 months.
  5. Cleansers are maintenance and help you exfoliate and boost collagen production, they allow your expensive products to penetrate deeper.
  6. Sun Protection should be worn every day, just driving in the car you are exposed to the sun’s rays, and nothing says age like some lovely sun spots.
  7. Serums and Creams to the newbie skin care lover can be intimidating BUT make the biggest difference in your skin. A serum has tiny molecules and potent ingredients to deliver the vitamins and nutrients your skin needs. Creams are thick with bigger molecules and work like a mask on your face to prevent water loss and allow your skin to heal and restore itself slowly overnight.
  8. Purchase your products from licensed professionals or dermatologist, nothing is more disheartening than dropping hundreds of dollars on products that don’t work.
  9. Get facials if you can’t do them monthly at least pop in every 6 months the same as you would to care for your teeth.
